England, 1941. Joseph is sent to London to live with Mrs. F., a friend of his grandmother. But between school, rationing, tough living conditions, and bombings, life in the capital is even harder than in northern England... Especially since Mrs. F. owns a zoo, and Joseph has to clean the cages and take care of the animals... Everything changes when he meets Adonis, a magnificent silverback gorilla. Initially scared, he eventually becomes friends with the animal, despite a grim discovery: in wartime, the lives of animals are worth less than those of humans... As the sky ignites and the sirens sound, Joseph will have to make a crucial choice for himself and for the animal...
